Ahecha con Brittany en Caazapá

Yo inscribí para participar en Ahecha cuando juré a mi servicio, sino porque es una demanda tan alta de los Voluntarios, no he tenido mi equipo hasta mayo. Siguiendo los pasos de una voluntarias cercana, decidí enseñar Ahecha como una clase gratuita para los miembros de mi cooperativa. La mayoría de los participantes fueron empleados de la cooperativa, pero todavía tenía un montón de diversión. Todos los jueves durante cinco semanas les enseñó los elementos básicos de la fotografía, perspectiva, autorretratos, el movimiento y sacando fotos de color en comparación con fotos de blanco y negro. Los empleados tomaron las cámaras a sus casas durante la semana y tomó fotos de la vida de sus familiares, salidas con amigos, y nuestra comunidad.

Al final del curso, mis 5 estudiantes recibieron certificados firmados por la cooperativa), y hicimos una exposición de sus mejores fotos para mostrar en la fiesta de 22o cumpleaños de mi cooperativa aniversario, donde muchas personas en nuestra comunidad asistieron y pudieron ver las imágenes.

El evento fue un gran éxito, y los empleados siguen hablando de lo mucho que amaba el curso Ahecha. Estoy muy orgulloso de ellos. Esto ha sido, sin duda uno de los mejores proyectos que he hecho en mi comunidad, y ya he firmado para Ahecha de nuevo para enseñar a los jóvenes más próximo abril.

I signed up for my Ahecha kit right when I swore in to my service, but because it’s in such high demand with Volunteers, I didn’t get my kit until May. Following in the footsteps of a nearby Peace Corps Volunteer, I decided to teach Ahecha as a free class to members at my cooperative. I ended up teaching mostly employees at the cooperative, but we still had a ton of fun. Every Thursday for five weeks I taught them the basic elements of photography, perspective, self-portraits, movement, and taking color versus black and white photos. The employees took the cameras home during the week and took shots of their family lives, outings with friends, and our community.

At the end of the course my 5 students each got certificates signed by the, and we put together an exhibition of their best photos to show at my cooperative’s 22nd birthday anniversary bash, where many people in our community attended and were able to see the pictures.

The event was a big success, and the employees still talk about how much they loved the Ahecha course. I’m so proud of them. This has definitely been one of the best projects I’ve done in my community, and I’ve already signed up for Ahecha again to teach it to more youth next April.
